The VGACTV3 is a general purpose VGA to Component Video transcoder that will theoretically work with all valid horizontal scan rates all the way from 240p/15khz to all VGA resolutions only limited by the analog video bandwidth (300MHz). Since this transcoder is used in various complicated setups (arcade emulator setups), the board includes debug information and easy access to sync signals synthesized by the transcoder, which can help debug problems. The following are the device specs and feature list.

Sync Compatibility:

  • HV Sync (Any Polarity)
  • Composite Sync (3.3V to 5V)

Video Signal Compatibility:

  • Video Input: 0.7Vpp Signal @ 75Ω termination
  • Video Output: 1.4Vpp Signal with series 75Ω output resistance, ~300mV Sync Tip
  • Will work with any DC offset at input
  • Output biased at 0V
  • Output disabled until valid signal detected

Extras:

  • Free running composite sync, horizontal sync, and vertical sync output regardless of the type of incoming cync
  • Output LEDs on the back for indication of signal lock and horizontal frequency (low res/high res)

Works Perfectly
Quality is solid, I don't have any complaints, it does exactly what it should. Worked great for converting PC VGA to 15Khz for older television. Clean signal, 0 issues whatsoever. Highly recommended. Now I just want a better old t.v. that supports component so I can get the most out of everything. Customer service was also fantastic, kept me updated and were in touch from pre-purchase to shipping. Well done all around.

Works perfect
Using this on a standard consumer CRT and it works absolutely flawlessly! As long as you know how to set up CRT_emudriver this thing is basically plug and play. Couldn't be more satisfied.

Amazing Product!!!
Wonderful little box that does exactly what it's supposed to do. I have a VGA outputting a 15Khz signal to a regular CRT TV. Between the PC running emulators and my CRT TV sits the VGACTV2 converting the signal. It's very straight forward and I did not have to do anything besides having the emulator PC configured correctly. Extremely satisfied with this product! Highly recommended.

Does exactly what I needed.
I keep my Dreamcast hooked up and I have been disappointed by cheap HDMI adapters that somewhat crudely convert the VGA signal. With this unit I get a much better-looking video signal using my television's component input.

VGACTV2 PC to MAME Machine
Ordered this to enable 240p / 15 hz out from my PC to my consumer TV via Component cables. Took a bit of work to get up and running, but the results make the effort worth while. The picture is absolutely incredible with only minor adjustments required. When using a PC, the key is to use an ATI video card along with crt_emudriver to enable 15hz. Standard windows resolution manager or the NVIDIA control panel is not capable of this. You may also have to perform some over-scan correction, so make sure your TV's service menu supports this. Top notch customer service as well. Definitely recommend picking this up !
